Marijuana Dispensary Business
Have you ever given a thought to open your own marijuana dispensary business?
According to the California State Board of Equalization, there are 500 marijuana clubs/dispensaries in California that bring in an estimated $870 million to $2 billion in revenue annually. There are a couple of things that need to be considered before starting up your business.
Dispensaries are composed of several different components. There is a dispensary manager, growing manager, delivery manager, delivery agent, security staff, and marketing. All of these positions are components that will run a successful marijuana business.
Dispensary Manager: Develops organization visions, implements policies, manages strategy development and monitors financials, and productions. The dispensary manager has the overall purview of finished product, from logging in inventory as it arrives in the dispensary, to accounting for cash at the end of the day.
Growing Manager: The growing facility manager is responsible for the overall operation of the cultivation center. He/she insures that the plants are tended to, organic only nutrients are applied, quality assurance is tested both on the soil and the finished product. The product needs to be kept up to both legal and operational standards.
Delivery Manager: The delivery manager is responsible for insuring safe and accurate delivery of medical marijuana to patients who request it. The delivery manager controls drivers’ manifests, insures that the proper product is recorded before it leaves the dispensary, and accounts for the receipts of the drivers routes.
Dispensary Agent: This is also known as “Budtender”. They offer advice and service to patients, and provide direction on which strain may work for a particular ailment. They are responsible for proper cash handling and log in sale transactions.
Security: The security team is responsible for insuring the safety of the employees, the patients and the facilities themselves. They will patrol the grounds, observe through closed circuit cameras, and interface with management to help document any weaknesses found in the system.
Marketing: The marketing manager will work to achieve greater market share, make patients aware of our presence, and use traditional media and social networks to attract new patients as well as retain current patients.
