Washington State Researchers are searching for volunteers that will help with the marijuana experiment they are conducting. The experiment is to develop a breathalyzer that detects the use of marijuana. This will essentially help law enforcement to detect if the driver is impaired to drive his or her vehicle. Under Washington law, drivers that are detected with Tetrahydrocannabinol THC, can be prosecuted for driving under the influence.
Researchers believe that there is a tremendous need for technology that can detect if someone is under the influence of marijuana. Volunteers would have to be over the age of 21 that meet the legal age of marijuana use. They will begin by taking blood tests and mouth swabs.
Since it is legalized they are able to buy from a state-licensed retail store and smoke privately at their own home. To avoid anyone driving to the location, researchers had volunteers picked up in taxi cabs and taken for tests in the hospital.
At the moment 29 states and the District of Colombia have passed legislation legalizing the use of medical marijuana and about 9 states have legalized the recreational use. Law enforcement needs to find a way to detect THC levels as well as business owners that are hiring. It is not an easy task to figure out how high the person is, but it is best if we start somewhere. U.S. Postal Service Refuses To Deliver Box Full Of Cash From Pot Shop
Rainforest Farms retailer had sent their tax payment through the U.S. Postal Service, and to their surprise the box was returned to the business. U.S. Postal Service refused to ship the money.
Postal inspector Aaron Behnen said “any proceeds from the selling of (marijuana) is considered drug proceeds under federal law, so you can’t mail that,” The Juneau Empire reported.
Rainforest Farms had been trying to send its tax money, but the owner finds it impossible to send. Since banks have locked out money that comes from marijuana in fear of federal laws, the farm sent their money via postal service.
“It’s difficult. People like cash, but it does take a lot to move it, especially when you have to account for it properly,” said James Barrett, one of the owners of Rainforest Farms. Being locked out of banks, and marijuana being illegal federally, makes running the business a challenge, Barrett said. There isn’t a way that patients pay electronically, so everything is paid cash.
It is not simple for marijuana business owners to move money around when there is a barrier on the way. They can’t simply just place the money in an account and transfer cash like it is normally done in the 21st century.
State Rep. Don Young has created a Congressional Cannabis Caucus with fellow representatives to work on getting a bill passed to protect banks and credit unions that choose to service marijuana-related businesses.

Alaska Officers and Corrections Officers Are Prohibited From Owning or Operating Cannabis Businesses
Alaska voters legalized recreational marijuana back in 2014. Retail sale began in late 2016, but yet police officers cannot touch the cannabis business at all.
In Anchorage Alaska, the Police Standards Council decided that prison guards and police officers should not get involved in the cannabis business. The council has made it a contributing factor in ongoing federal ban. This is implemented because the cannabis business is blooming in Alaska. The council decided that they were not taking any chances for an officer to get involved in the marijuana business. They believe that it is only a matter of time for officers to consider pursuing a license to possess, distribute, or cultivate in Alaska. The council wanted to make it clear that cannabis activity is inconsistent with the ethics of professional law enforcement and it is prohibited by state regulations.
Any police officer that is found to be operating cannabis business will automatically lose their ability to work for a police department. This is not only implemented in Alaska, but all across the United States. For full article click here.

I placed the order for Humboldt Apothecary Tincture since I get inflammation on my lower-back, which causes extreme pain. I received the order the very next day. The package comes in just like how other businesses ship their products, through FedEx. There are no labels or signs that says you have marijuana in there. They provide you with the fine print about the product, since it is still considered illegal to share the product or driving under the influence of marijuana.
Once I opened up the cute little box, I found the oil I ordered and a few complementary extras from SpeedWeed. I got Breez cannabis mints and a bite size Kiva Chocolate bar. The entire experience was great, and I totally recommend it if you don’t have time in your hands.

James Slatic, business owner of Med-West Distribution was shocked to find out that not only was his business getting raided, but all of his family’s funds were put on hold.
Slatic’s personal bank account was put on freeze, including his wife and step daughters accounts.
Agents took all of their cannabis inventory, and just over 324,000 was seized in cash.
According to business owner Slatic, no one broke any rules, all permits were up to date, and they had been fully up and running for the past two years. The collective supplied medical flowers, cannabis oils, topical creams, and cannabis edibles.
It has been devastating 15 months for both him and his family. He has gone on explaining how he feels like he has been robbed by police.
Slatic and his attorneys argued that their family money must be returned at the very least.
Business owner’s attorney argued that this money is not part of any case and should be returned to business owner and his family. The judge agreed and issue the order that this money be returned or otherwise repaid so the family can be made whole again with respect to their personal financial loss.

Not all California Cities Allow Outdoor Marijuana Cultivation
Marijuana might be legalized in California, but not all cities are in for the cannabis movement. One particular city that is not in for the pot legalization is the city of Santa Rosa. The city of Santa Rosa is looking to make the right choices for the city now that Prop 64 was passed. There’s been a lot of push back from communities in terms of smell, sight and security…the other thing that was found with the passage of Prop 64, it adds the ability of anybody to grow up to six plants at their residence.
The city wants to ban outdoor cultivation of marijuana for any reason, including medical marijuana.
This includes a patient with the up to six plants, he or she is allowed to cultivate as well as any commercial medical marijuana manufacturers.
Some residents were outraged when they found out this was happening. The legalization of the state regulated more this city of Santa Rosa, how ironic is that?
One key part to keep in mind, if you are cultivating medical marijuana, is that the local municipality may try to infringe upon your rights when they are not technically allowed to do so. This is not to say they do not have authority, but if you are being told you need to stop cultivating marijuana or are issued warning, you should speak with an experienced cannabis attorney that will help you to learn what your rights are.
